Kenneth Edward Noll
WAMEGO-Kenneth “Ken” Edward Noll, 87, of Wamego, Kansas passed away Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Lawrence Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence, Kansas.
Kenneth was born February 27, 1926, in Flush, Kansas, the son of Gerald and Florence (Riat) Noll. He attended school in Flush graduating from the Flush School in 1944. On June 25, 1947 he married Lorene Gros at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Flush. She preceded him in death in 2007.
Ken worked as farmer a small business man. He farmed in Flush and rural Alma, Kansas before moving to rural Wamego, Kansas in 1960 where he began working for Skel Gas. In the early 1980’s Ken retired from Skel Gas and began working for the Wamego School District in the bus department driving a bus routed and maintaining buses. He also continued farming until 1996 before they moved to Wamego. Ken was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, winemaking and woodworking, but most of all loved his large family and spending time with all of them. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
Ken is survived by his three daughters: Karen Linquist and husband Bill of Aurora, CO, Debbie Smith and husband Harry of Overland Park, KS and Jean Nelson and husband Jim of Burlingame, KS; two sons: Jerry Noll and wife Lisa of Sand Springs, OK and Ed Noll and wife Betty of Lawrence, KS; three sisters: Patricia Heptig, Marjorie Schlegel and Florence Pray; one brother: Donald Noll and wife Kathy; 10 grandchildren: Angela, Will, Megan, Amber, Kelly, Chris, Kenny, Kevin, Kendra and Jacob; 18 great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Brandon, David, Johnathon, Hayden, Nollan, Camryn, Merrin, Broden, Adelyn, Lucas, Dylan, Cooper, Trevor, David, Elizabeth, Holly and Logan and two great-great-grandchildren: Kelsey and Emily. Among his wife he was preceded in death by one brother: Robert.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Wamego. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will gather at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, where a Rosary will be recited prior to Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Bernard’s Cemetery Fund and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
