RaEtta Louise Wilson, 76, of Wamego, Kansas, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland. She was a long-time resident of the area.
RaEtta was born November 7, 1936, in Wamego, Kansas, the daughter of Dale and Juanita Chrest. She attended local schools and graduated from Wamego High School in 1954. In 1955 she graduated from Business School in Topeka.
RaEtta married Norman Wolfe in 1955. They were later divorced. She then married Duane Wilson in 2001. He survives at his home.
RaEtta lived in Kansas then moved to Minnesota for several years while she raised a family, and then moved back to Kansas. She held several different positions during that time. She was a bank teller, grocery store cashier, school secretary, secretary of a nutrition store, insurance office and construction company. Her final job was Business Manager for the Kansas State University Veterinarian Hospital in Manhattan. RaEtta believed in volunteering and was active in Camp Fire Girls and church service. She attended First Assembly of God Church in Manhattan and Shilo Christian Church in Wamego. She loved music and singing, gardening and playing Bridge. However the center of her life was her relationship with the Lord and the study of His Word. RaEtta served for five years with the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program doing various mission work across the United States.
RaEtta is also survived by her daughters, Wendy Matthews and her husband, Jim, St. George, Becky Taylor and her husband, Bruce, Manhattan; her son, Rodney Wolfe and his wife, Idalia, Emporia along with nine grandchildren. By marriage, she is survived by five stepchildren: Mark and Valerie Wilson, David and Melissa Wilson, Mike and Stephanie Wilson, Bill and Christy Ballenger, and Mister and Debbie Murphy along with nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard Chrest.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Louisville Cemetery, Louisville, Kansas. Mrs. Wilson will lie-in-state on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego.
