MANHATTAN-Belinda L. Fouse, 55, of Manhattan, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Belinda was born August 6, 1957, in Springdale, Ark., the daughter of Murray and Bonnie (Buller) Lewis. She was raised in McPherson and Marquette, KS. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1975, before attending Brown Mackie Business School and graduating. In February of 1974, she was the recipient of a kidney transplant, donated by her mother. She was still using this kidney at the time of her death.
On April 1, 1982 in Salina, KS, she married Richard “Dick” Fouse. That summer they moved to Lubbock, TX, where Belinda worked in the Texas Tech University Bursar’s office until 1987. She also worked at University Medical Center from 1989-1993.While living in Lubbock they attended Melanie Park Baptist Church. On November 8, 1983 she gave birth to a son, Brandon.
In 1993, the family moved to Garden City, KS, where Belinda worked as a bookkeeper for Ward’s Garden Service and also attended Bible Baptist Church all before moving to Manhattan, KS in 1998.
In Manhattan, she worked as a bookkeeper for the Hearing Doctors of Kansas until 2010. While in Manhattan, she attended Westview Community Church and Faith Evangelical Free Church.
Belinda is survived by her husband: Dick, of the home; her son: Brandon, of Pensacola, FL; her father: Murray Lewis of Sprindale, AR; two brothers: Murray Elder of Houston, TX and Kenneth Elder of Salina, KS; one sister: Cindy Stinson of Lubbock, TX and her mother-in-law: Jo Fouse of Garden City, KS. She is also survived by her cousin: Robin Robertson of Salina, KS, who she loved like a sister; Robin’s daughter: Rebecca Packard, also of Salina and her many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother: Bonnie Elder; her stepfather: Slim Elder and her sister and brother-in-law: Connie and Kenny Burger.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Faith Evangelical Free Church of Manhattan, with Rev. Brian Anderson officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
