Loretta E. Poell, 95, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Manhattan.
She was born November 29, 1916, at Hanover, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Hellman Bond. She was raised on a farm near Hanover and graduated from Hanover High School where she was on the girl’s basketball team. Mrs. Poell was a homemaker.
Mrs. Poell was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys and was an honorary member of the Women’s Sodality at the church.
On June 18, 1940 she was united in marriage to Wilfred J. Poell at Hanover. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a grandson Benjamin Dickson, a daughter-in-law, Sandy Poell, and all of her siblings.
Survivors include, three daughters, Marcia Ann (Galen) Holston, Topeka, Loretta E. “Beth” (Bruce) Dickson, Lawrence and Mary Ellen (Rick) Reese, St. Marys; six sons, Mark A. (Carol) Poell, St. Marys, Marvin W. Poell, Topeka, Michael J. “Mick” (Mary) Poell, St. Marys, Robert M. “Mitch” (Lorraine) Poell, Lenexa and James G. “Jamie” (Martha) Poell, Helena, MT; 22 grandchildren, Nicole, Ty, Casey, Cody, Angela, Justin, Ginger, Nate, Emily, Cate, Berry, Bruce IV, Blake, Anna, Rebecca, Mark, Evan, David, Lauren, Molly, Tatum and Will;11 great-grandchildren, Brayden, Luke, Jack, Carly, Briana, Arianna, Chloe, Truman, Andrew, Brooklyn and Aidan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Mrs. Poell will lie in state after 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the church where there will be a rosary recited at 7:00 P.M.
