Welcome Back LuWow!
On August 17, 2012, Mill Creek Valley Middle School and Junior High held their fifth annual Welcome Back LuWOW for all Mill Creek Valley students in grades 5-8. The event, which was held at the JH football practice field, was attended by well over 150 people including students, staff members, their spouses and their children. The evening began with time for students to enjoy playing games with their friends. This was a great opportunity to enjoy the new equipment, basketballs, kick balls, Frisbees, soccer balls, and footballs, which were purchased through concession stand and box top monies. Free time play was followed by a hotdog cookout complete with chips and cookies. The gas grill was provided by Heather Wagner and family. After supper, students enjoyed a game of birthday barnyard. Our annual limbo contest was next on the agenda. After a lengthy competition, 5th grader Shelby Wright was named 2012 limbo champ. Our runner up in the competition was Gracie Gnadt. The evening ended with the Hokey Pokey and the Chicken Dance. Supplies for the cookout were made possible by contributions from Stockgrowers State Bank, Bluestem Electric Cooperative, Frank’s Plumbing and Heating, and Wamego City Hospital. Parent volunteers provided cookies. Helping to make the evening run smoothly were members of the MCV MS/JH staff, Mike Morton, Katelin Morton and James Uthe. The MCV MS/JH LuWOW was a great way to start the school year as students and staff enjoyed food, fun and the opportunity to get to know each other better.
