Floyd Edward Krause: Westmoreland
Floyd Edward Krause, 78, of Westmoreland, Kansas, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family, following a battle with cancer. He was a long time resident of the area. Ed was born May 30, 1934, in rural Stockdale, Kansas, the son of Floyd and Nora Herrmann Krause. He attended local schools and graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1952. Ed then served in the United States Army. Ed was a mechanic for the Kansas Department of Transportation for thirty years. Prior to his working for the state, Ed, owned and operated Ed’s Service gas station in Westmoreland. He also worked for the City of Westmoreland and served as a City Marshal. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Flush and had been a volunteer fireman. He liked hunting, fishing, camping and traveling with his wife, Patricia. Ed’s greatest joy was his family, and attending his children and grand-children's activities. Ed married Patricia Caffrey on July 27, 1957, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Flush. She survives at their home. He is also survived by his children, Carol Robb and her husband, Kirk, Pamela Ridder, and Mark Krause and his wife, Brenda, all of Westmoreland; six grandchildren, Michael Robb and his wife, Cassie, Jessica Thornton and her husband, Shey, Jennifer Plummer and her husband, Adam, Trich Weddle and her husband, Michael, Chasity Ridder and Adam Krause; four great-grandchildren, McKayla, Hannah, Michael and Noah. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ethel Wahl. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Flush, Kansas. Father John Pilcher will be the Celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Krause will lie-in-state a Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego on Sunday, starting at 2:00 p.m., and the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A rosary prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. They suggest memorial contributions to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or Grace Hospice, and those maybe sent in care of the mortuary.
