Dorothy Schooler: Blaine
Dorothy Ann Schooler, 52, of Blaine, Kansas, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012, unexpectedly at her home. She was a life long resident of the area. Dorothy was born November 2, 1959, in Onaga, Kansas, the daughter of James “Ed” and Margaret Minihan Sherlock. She attended local schools and graduated from Onaga High School in 1977. She then attended Wichita Technical Institute and received her certificate as a dental assistant. Dorothy married Mark Schooler on June 7, 1980, in Blaine. He survives at their home. Dorothy was a dental assistant for thirty years with the practice of Dr. Pat Dreiling and Dr. Mark Tindall in Manhattan. She operated her own dental lab for a time. Dorothy also was an auction clerk and cashier. She was an active member of St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church in Blaine. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and quilting. She loved going to auctions, garage sales, flea markets, driving her little sports car and traveling. She was known for her cooking and her desire to help others. She loved spending time with her family at their lake house in Table Rock Lake. Dorothy is also survived by her daughters, Ashley Schooler, Kansas City, Missouri and Courtney Schooler, Overland Park, Kansas; her sister, Darlene DuLac and her husband, Charles, Atchison, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Mary Shubkagel and her husband, Steve, Lincoln, Nebraska and Nancy Jackson, Vermillion, Kansas; her brothers-in-law, Mike Schooler and his wife, Janet, Riley, Kansas and Willie Schooler, Frankfort; and her aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Delores Hazen in 1975. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church in Blaine. Father Pat Sullivan will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church. A rosary prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Columbkille’s building fund and those may be sent in care of Kufahl Funeral home in Wheaton.
