LaVon Marie Griffith, 67, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Manhattan. She was a life-long resident of the area.
LaVon was born Oct. 26, 1944, in Westmoreland, Kan., the daughter of Elmer and Veneva Bosse Eichem. She attended local schools and graduated in 1962 from Westmoreland High School.
LaVon homemaker and mother and also worked for several years at the Food Court in the Student Union at K-State. She also had worked in the lunch room at Marlatt Elementary School. LaVon was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Manhattan and active in their senior/adult group.
LaVon married Joseph F. Griffith on Aug. 11, 1975. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2005.
She is survived by her mother, Veneva Eichem, Westmoreland; her two daughters, Lori Schultz and her husband, Bradley, Manhattan and Kimberly Bond and her husband, Daniel, Everett, Washington; her sister, Virginia Haffener and her husband, Sid, Coffeyville; three grandchildren, Alexander Schultz and Angel and Zoey Bond. LaVon was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Eichem and her sister, LaVera Hynek.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego. Pastor Patrick Weyrauch and Pastor Linda Johnson officiated. Burial followed at Louisville Cemetery.
