Clifton Hugh “Huey” Watts, Jr., 63, of Westmoreland, Kansas, died Thursday, January 31, 2013, at his home. He had been a member of the Westmoreland community since 1991.
Huey was born January 31, 1950, in Fairbury, Nebraska, the son of Clifton Watts, Sr. and Leila Bohlmeyer Watts. In 1968, he graduated from Fairbury High School. He then attended and graduated from Fairbury Junior College.
Huey worked many years in construction. For twenty years he worked for BRB Construction based in Topeka building water pipelines. He then worked five years for EBI Construction in Wamego and then fifteen years for Shillings Construction in Manhattan driving dump truck on road construction projects. In his earlier years, Huey was an assistant Boy Scout leader and loved to go fishing.
He married Elaine Bartels on August 11, 1972, in Fairbury, Nebraska. She survives at their home.
Huey is also survived by his daughter, Annette Watts, Belleville; his son, Bryan Watts and his wife, Lauren, Overland Park; granddaughters, Eleanor and Elizabeth; his siblings, Joyce Tracy and her husband, Ed, Amy Kroeker and her husband, Bob, and Dennis Watts, all of Fairbury, Nebraska.
Mr. Watts’ body has been cremated. The family will greet friends for a visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego. An inurnment will be held in Fairbury, Nebraska at a later date. They suggest memorial contributions to either the Disabled American Veterans or Easter Seals, and those may be sent in care of the mortuary.
