Wamego High School Power Lifting Teams Compete at Clay Center Meet

Wamego High School’s power lifting team traveled to Clay Center, KS on Saturday, February 2nd, to compete in a power lifting competition. Twenty lifters from WHS competed at the Clay Center meet. Those lifters consisted of Blythe Wagner, Stacie Westgate, Emmalee Chrest, Paige Harrod, Andrea Waegli, Hannah Lincoln, Bailee Larson, Bradley Borger, Jody Dardenne, Joe Sullivan, John Sullivan, Matthew Plummer, Brandon Ebert, Kody Jackson, Cody Wilson, Jesse Figge, Brian McCarty, Darryn Lee, Nathan Pageler and Daniel Jensen. The boys team finished 2nd place overall out of 18 teams, the Jr. boys team finished place 3rd overall out of 18 teams, while the girls team tied for 8th placed out of 18 teams.

In the boy’s individual competition, Borger finished 2nd overall in the 123 pound weight class, 2nd in bench with a lift of 165 pounds, 2nd in squat with a lift of 245 pounds and 2nd in clean with a lift of 170 pounds. Jody Dardenne finished 2nd overall in the 132 pound Jr. Division weight class, 1st in bench with a lift of 145 pounds, 1st in squat with a lift of 225 pounds and 4th in clean with a lift of 120 pounds. Joe Sullivan finished 4th overall in the 140 pound Jr. Division weight class, 2nd in bench with a lift of 140 pounds, 3rd in squat with a lift of 210 pounds and 5th in clean with a lift of 130 pounds. John Sullivan finished 5th overall in the 140 pound weight class, 1st in bench with a lift of 190 pounds, 4th in squat with a lift of 225 pounds and 5th in clean with a lift of 175 pounds. Plummer finished 3rd overall in the 156 pound Jr. Division weight class, 2nd in bench with a lift of 195 pounds, 3rd in squat with a lift of 250 pounds and 3rd  in clean with a lift of 190 pounds. Ebert finished 1st overall in the 156 pound weight class, 1st in bench with a lift of 215 pounds, 1st in squat with a lift of 290 pounds and 1st in clean with a lift of 240 pounds. Jackson finished 3rd overall in the 165 pound Jr. Division weight class, 3rd in bench with a lift of 165 pounds, 3rd in squat with a lift of 255 pounds and 3rd in clean with a lift of 190 pounds. Wilson finished 2nd overall in the 173 pound Jr. Division weight class, 2nd in bench with a lift of 185 pounds, 2nd in squat with a lift of 280 pounds and 1st in clean with a lift of 225 pounds. Figge finished 6th overall in the 181 pound weight class, 2nd in bench with a lift of 250 pounds, 5th in squat with a lift of 315 pounds and 8th in clean with a lift of 205 pounds. McCarty finished 7th overall in the 181 pound weight class, 8th in bench with a lift of 180 pounds, 8th in squat due to a scratch and 7th in clean with a lift of 180 pounds. Pageler finished 1st overall in the 242 pound weight class, 1st in bench with a lift of 295 pounds, 1st in squat with a lift of 445 pounds and 1st in clean with a lift of 285 pounds. Lee finished 3rd overall in the 242 pound weight class, 3rd in bench with a lift of 225 pounds, 3rd in squat with a lift of 285 pounds and 3rd in clean with a lift of 210 pounds. Jensen finished 1st overall in the HWT weight class, 1st in bench with a lift of 320 pounds, 1st in squat with a lift of 390 pounds and 1st in clean with a lift of 330 pounds.

In the girl’s individual competition, Wagner finished 5th overall in the 123 pound weight class, 6th in bench with a lift of 70 pounds, 5th in squat with a lift of 100 pounds and 5th in clean with a lift of 75 pounds. Westgate finished 7th overall in the 132 pound weight class, 5th in bench with a lift of 80 pounds, 8th in squat with a lift of 130 pounds and 5th in clean with a lift of 95 pounds. Chrest finished 5th overall in the 140 pound weight class, 2nd in bench with a lift of 110 pounds, 8th in squat with a lift of 140 pounds and 7th in clean with a lift of 105 pounds. Harrod finished 7th overall in the 140 pound weight class, 7th in bench with a lift of 95 pounds, 6th in squat with a lift of 150 pounds and 8th in clean with a lift of 105 pounds. Lincoln finished 3rd overall in the 148 pound weight class, 2nd in bench with a lift of 115 pounds, 3rd in squat with a lift of 200 pounds and 5th in clean with a lift of 120 pounds. Waegli finished 7th overall in the 148 pound weight class, 6th in bench with a lift of 90 pounds, 6th in squat with a lift of 175 pounds and 8th in clean with a lift of 95 pounds. Larson finished 8th overall in the 148 pound weight class, 7th in bench with a lift of 90 pounds, 7th in squat with a lift of 170 pounds and 9th in clean with a lift of 90 pounds. Wamego’s power lifting team’s next competition will be on February 9th, when they travel to the Basehor-Linwood powerlifting meet.
