On April 4th and 5th, Blue Valley FFA members competed in the Allen Community College and Fort Scott Community College Ag Career Event Days. Each community college hosts a variety of career development event areas for students to compete in from Kansas, as well as other states. Blue Valley students competed in two areas: livestock evaluation and meats evaluation. The livestock team consisted of Reid Shipman, Quinten Ross, Zach Rootring, and Marshall Carey. The meats team consisted of Kyle Apley, Bill Sumerour, and Zeb Hutson. At the ACC event both teams placed 9th respectively out of 30 teams in livestock and 20 teams in meats. Kyle placed 8th overall in meats. Reid and Zach both placed in the top 20% of the livestock CDE. At the FSCC event, the meats team placed 8th out of 31 teams from Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Kyle placed 5th and Bill placed 20th out of 135 meats contestants. Zach placed in the top 25% of the livestock CDE contestants.
